How visual division works

Division answers the question: "How many objects go in each group when we split a total into a certain number of equal groups?"

The quotient is the number of objects per group. The remainder is any objects left over when the division is not exact.

Use the object selector to choose different visual types, then stage your dimensions with Calculate to see the grouped result.

Input tips

  • Enter whole numbers for both objects and groups.
  • Groups cannot be zero since you cannot divide by nothing.
  • Use Calculate to stage your inputs before seeing the result.
  • The Copy button returns the full division statement for notes.
  • Reset returns to the example values so you can compare.
