What is Perimeter of a Rectangle?
The perimeter of a rectangle is the total distance around its boundary. It's found by adding up the lengths of all four sides. Since a rectangle has two pairs of equal sides (length and width), the formula for the perimeter (P) is given by:
P = 2 × (length + width)
or
P = 2 × length + 2 × width
For example, if a rectangle has a length of 5 units and a width of 3 units, its perimeter is 2 × (5 + 3) = 16 units. This calculator simplifies this process, allowing you to quickly find the perimeter for any rectangle dimensions. Just input the length and width, and get the perimeter instantly!
- Length: The longer side of the rectangle.
- Width: The shorter side of the rectangle.
- Perimeter: The total length of the boundary of the rectangle.
