Why the result is always zero

Multiplication can be read as equal groups. The second factor says how many items belong in each group.

If each group contains 00, then the total remains 00 no matter how many groups you count.

This zero property works for whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and negative numbers too.

Useful reminders

  • aimes0=0a imes 0 = 0 for any real number aa.
  • Zero makes products collapse, but not sums.
  • This property is one reason zero is called the absorbing element for multiplication.
