Mass and weight are not the same
Mass measures how much matter an object contains, while weight is the gravitational force acting on that mass. The calculator uses after first converting the chosen unit into kilograms.
Why location matters
Your mass stays constant, but your weight changes when the local gravitational field changes. That is why the same object weighs less on the Moon than on Earth.
Units used here
Weight is reported in newtons, the SI unit of force. Mass inputs can start in kilograms, grams, or pounds before conversion.
