About Interactive Scatterplots

A scatterplot places paired numerical values on a coordinate plane. Each point represents one observation, such as study time and test score or height and weight.

Use the point table to enter one observation per row. After you generate the chart, look for direction, spread, clusters, or unusual outliers.

  • Positive association means points tend to rise from left to right.
  • Negative association means points tend to fall from left to right.
  • A wide vertical spread often means weaker predictability.
