What is Cotangent?
In trigonometry, the cotangent of an angle is the ratio of the length of the adjacent side to the length of the opposite side in a right-angled triangle. It is also the reciprocal of the tangent function.
Formula: cot(θ) = Adjacent / Opposite = 1 / tan(θ) = cos(θ) / sin(θ)
The cotangent function is periodic with a period of π radians or 180 degrees and is undefined at integer multiples of π (or 180°). It is positive in the first and third quadrants and negative in the second and fourth quadrants.
